Elite Maths Mentoring (EM2) caters for primary and secondary students of all abilities. The service is intended for those who: wish to improve their overall results; build solid mathematical foundations; develop mathematical rigour; and learn the art of how to think flexibly to solve problems.

Whilst building long-term success is the primary focus of EM2, the service is also suited to those who require more specific help, including end of year exams and scholarship preparation. EM2 also provides short courses and holiday programs (more information on this to come).

Mathematics (Primary)

Primary School Maths Mentoring by Brunton StewartEM2 offers individualised maths tutorials at primary level, Prep – Year 6. The aim is to help young students build strong numerical foundations and problem solving skills which will allow for a smooth transition later on into secondary school. It is important to identify any key areas of concern or gaps in knowledge (e.g. fractions) as early as possible, since weaknesses can become more magnified later on.

The mentor will prepare additional material for the lesson appropriate to the student’s current learning requirements. Enrichment exercises can also be provided (on request) for more advanced students keen to excel beyond their class level.

Mathematics (Secondary)

Secondary-High-School-Maths-Mentoring_Elite-Maths-Mentoring-EM2-298x260EM2 provides individualised maths tutorials at secondary level, ranging from: Year 7 – Year 12. Offerings include VCE subjects: Maths Methods, Specialist Maths and Further Maths. It is important that the student continues to build upon the mathematical foundations developed in previous years, as students often fall behind due to a variety of reasons.

The mentor works with the student on specific problem areas (e.g. algebra or probability). Other more general areas that EM2 works on with the student include: organization, time management, and exam preparation and strategies. EM2 is also suitable for students who are doing well, but who wish to raise the bar higher. The aim is to help students capitalize on their hard work and reach their full potential.
